Grissho by Showhardo: Dressing the Dream

Grissho by Showhardo: Dressing the Dream

Some designers begin with fabric.

Showhardo Ahmed began with fantasy.

Long before Grissho existed, he found himself captivated by worlds where clothing wasn’t merely functional—it was magical. Animated princesses wrapped in extravagant gowns, his mother’s treasured sarees, and the quiet elegance of the women who raised him all became part of an ever-growing visual archive that would later shape his design language.

For Showhardo, fashion has never been about following trends.

It’s about creating a world people want to step into.

“I wanted to create outfits that are unapologetically fantastical and fun. Fashion should make you want to have fun.”

That philosophy has become the heartbeat of Grissho, a label where softness is strength, femininity is celebrated without apology, and fantasy is treated not as escapism, but as an everyday possibility.

Built From Wonder

Growing up surrounded by strong women, Showhardo developed a deep appreciation for femininity—not only through clothing, but through emotion, resilience, and beauty.

His mother and sister became his earliest muses, teaching him that elegance wasn’t something reserved for special occasions. It existed in everyday life.

When the time came to build his own brand, that influence naturally became its foundation.

Grissho wasn’t created simply to sell clothes.

It became an extension of the dreamlike universe he had been quietly building for years.

The name itself reflects that optimism.

In Bangla, Grissho means summer—a season he associates with freedom, excitement, and endless possibility.

To him, it represents more than a time of year.

It’s a feeling.

“Summer evokes fun, zeal, and endless possibilities. That’s the feeling I wanted the brand to carry.”

But Grissho is also something more personal.

It’s a creative outlet.

A community.

A place where people who love fashion, dressing up, and imagination can exist together without restraint.

Fantasy That Lasts

Although Grissho’s garments often appear ethereal, the philosophy behind them remains grounded.

Sustainability isn’t an afterthought.

It’s woven into the creative process from the beginning.

Locally sourced materials, natural dyes whenever possible, one-of-one garments, and custom-made pieces all allow the brand to minimize waste while creating something deeply personal for every client.

Instead of producing fashion for the sake of volume, Showhardo prefers to create garments with intention.

Each piece is made to feel like it belongs to someone before it’s even worn.

That slower approach mirrors the fantasy Grissho represents.

Beautiful things deserve time.

Movement Before Structure

Ask Showhardo what defines Grissho’s visual identity, and he doesn’t begin with silhouettes.

He begins with movement.

Texture has always mattered more than rigid construction.

Layers of chiffon.

Soft lace.

Weightless tulle.

Muted shades of pink, mauve, ivory, black, and cream.

These aren’t simply materials—they’re emotions translated into fabric.

“Texture and movement are a much bigger part of my identity than structure.”

The result is clothing that feels alive.

Garments that float rather than stand still.

Pieces that invite movement instead of restricting it.

It’s a design language that feels unmistakably Grissho.

A Brand Out of Time

If Grissho belonged to another era, Showhardo doesn’t hesitate with his answer.

The nineteenth century.

Victorian opulence.

Romantic silhouettes.

Theatrical femininity.

“If you know Grissho, you know it would fit right into the 1800s.”

That fascination with historical beauty isn’t about nostalgia.

It’s about reclaiming extravagance.

In a world increasingly obsessed with minimalism, Grissho embraces ornament, softness, and dramatic storytelling without apology.

Every collection feels like it could belong equally on a contemporary runway or inside an old European portrait.

The Leap That Changed Everything

Some creative decisions arrive after months of planning.

Others happen on instinct.

For Showhardo, the most important decision of his career came in 2024, when he submitted Grissho to Arka Fashion Week.

At the time, the label was still in its infancy.

Its identity wasn’t fully formed.

Recognition felt uncertain.

Still, he applied.

“It was probably the most impulsive decision I’ve ever made.”

It became the turning point.

Arka gave Grissho something every young designer hopes to find.

A stage.

More importantly, it gave him confidence.

Rather than asking him to become more commercial or more conventional, the platform embraced his vision exactly as it was.

That validation allowed the brand to grow without compromising its identity.

Looking back, Showhardo credits that opportunity as one of the defining moments in Grissho’s journey.

“Arka allowed such a young label onto such a big stage, and everything changed after that.”

The Jacket That Changed His Perspective

Every designer has one piece that quietly changes everything.

For Showhardo, it wasn’t a flowing dress or romantic gown.

It was a jacket.

Created for Grissho’s SS26 presentation at Arka Fashion Week Winter ’25 and worn by Sukanan Chakma, the now-iconic beige spine suit jacket marked a dramatic departure from his usual aesthetic.

Handprint detailing.

Recycled metal accents.

Sharp construction softened by delicate emotion.

The garment balanced strength and fragility in equal measure.

“It was a beautiful juxtaposition of edge and ethereal beauty.”

That piece reminded him that creative identity doesn’t have to remain fixed.

Sometimes the strongest brands evolve by surprising themselves.

Creating Through Uncertainty

Like every creative, Showhardo understands that inspiration isn’t constant.

Some days ideas arrive effortlessly.

Others don’t.

Rather than waiting for creativity to appear, he’s learned to archive it.

Images.

Books.

Films.

Textures.

Historical references.

Personal memories.

Whenever inspiration feels distant, he returns to that collection.

“Inspiration is fleeting. Build an archive of things that continue to inspire you and return to it.”

For him, creativity isn’t something to chase.

It’s something to nurture.

Success Beyond Numbers

Ask Showhardo about business growth, and he quickly redirects the conversation.

Success, in his eyes, has very little to do with revenue.

It begins much earlier.

Authenticity.

Freedom.

Fulfillment.

“Success is knowing that what you’re creating is authentic to you.”

If people genuinely connect with that honesty, everything else follows.

Recognition.

Growth.

Opportunity.

But authenticity must always come first.

Finding Home at Arka

For Grissho, Arka has never been simply another runway.

It has become home.

Not because it was the brand’s first major platform.

Because it was the first place where Showhardo never felt the need to explain his vision.

Instead, he found an ecosystem filled with designers, photographers, stylists, artists, and creatives who understood experimentation rather than questioning it.

“Being part of Arka means being surrounded by people who inspire each other and grow together.”

That sense of belonging has become inseparable from Grissho’s story.

As the platform expanded, so did the brand.

Collaborations emerged.

Recognition followed.

An audience found the fantasy Showhardo had always hoped to build.

He believes both Grissho and Arka share the same philosophy.

Fresh ideas.

Modern thinking.

Fearless creativity.

“Grissho brings something new to Bangladeshi fashion, and that’s exactly what Arka represents.”

Trying to describe Arka to someone who has never experienced it, however, proves almost impossible.

“It’s fun. It’s magical. It’s a place where so many different creatives come together and create something extraordinary.”

The Dream Keeps Growing

Although Grissho has already established a distinctive voice within Bangladesh’s fashion landscape, Showhardo believes the journey is only beginning.

His ambitions stretch well beyond national borders.

International Fashion Weeks.

Global audiences.

A growing creative community built around Grissho’s dreamlike universe.

Yet even as the brand looks outward, he never forgets where it truly began.

“Arka will forever be the core of Grissho.”

Because every global story begins somewhere.

For Grissho, it began with imagination.

It grew through courage.

And today, it continues proving that fantasy isn’t something we outgrow.

Sometimes it’s something we wear.
